Fishing Pole: First Blood pt 1

Brian Wall is back for his fourth video! Brian's pet opening, the fishing pole, was played against GM Walter Browne by Francisco Baltier. Baltier has a habit of quoting Rambo when talking about his games so it was only natural to make this video with scenes from the movie Frist Blood.

@AtunHotepRe unfortunately i don't have an iPhone so I have no way to check if a video works on it or not. I assume its some kind of formatting issue? Or perhaps you can download an additional plug-in on whatever browser you use to play a different video type. If it helps, this video is in .wmv format

can you employ the fishing pole against guicco (Bc4)?

the fishing pole is more of an attacking motif than an opening...N-KN5 followed by P-KR4 etc etc so it can be employed against any opening where the opposing king is castled (doesnt even matter if its queenside or kingside)

as part of brian's email chess blog he writes about chess games, they are usually really funny, he did an email on this game with quotes from rambo so we decided to do clips of rambo as part of the video as a joke :) you can subscribe to brian's email list by going to yahoo groups and searching brian wall chess

what if white just doesn't kick the knight on g4 with h6? Seems like black just wastes a tempo. I know it's a chess trap but nobody is really going to take this stuff seriously...

Nice vid. I generally never go for 'trap' lines, but this one seems to be perfect. I normally play Sicilian but I quite like the chaos that seems to follow from this, so I might have to try out 1...e5 for a change :)
