The Duke Blue Devils lacrosse team defeated the Loyola Greyhounds 12-7 in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Lacrosse Tournament. The Greyhounds opened the game strong jumping out to a 2-1 lead behind Cooper MacDonnell. Duke took the lead with seven straight goals, which included a record breaking assist for Matt Danowski. He passed Air Force's Joe Vasta as the NCAA's all-time scoring leading with 347 points. Danowski finished the game with two goals and five assists for seven points.
