Wearing a burqa isn't a "cultural statement". It's ordered in the Qur'an which makes it a purely 'religious' issue.

@irishgodfatherchris - "seems to be the few who ruin it for everyone." Having read somewhat extensively the quran, hadith &sari I find that the entire religion is both abhorrent and evil. It's good to see that so many hundreds of thousands of them are actually converting from Islam as they continue to find out exactly what it's all about.

@Chris51 true perhaps I didn't phrase it properly. I know of a good many Muslims who have good jobs and cars etc. It just seems to be the few who ruin it for everyone.

@irishgodfatherchris - I also don't think you have to be privileged to make a positive contribution. The muslims don't contribute because the quran tells them not to. A good resource is the web site "the religion of peace.com" remove the gaps of course. It is quite detailed and informative.

@irishgodfatherchris - success is determined by attitude not background. We seem to think that the jews are all wealthy because they have been stereotyped, yet they are no different to the rest of the world. They have their low to upper class as well just like muslims. In Sydney there are some extremely wealthy muslims, I won't go into why I suspect so many of them are wealthy when they appear to be unemployed.

@Chris51 true however a lot of the Jewish population are of privileged backgrounds (take businessmen David Smorgon) whereas the Muslims aren't.

@irishgodfatherchris - fair enough and yet it's interesting the contribution the jewish people have made to Australia as compared to the Muslims. I still believe the burka should be banned.
