More Wipeout HD load times with and without advertising

THE ADS HAVE BEEN REMOVED. As of this upload, there is no advertising in the loading screens for the game, whether you have the Fury expansion or not.

I made this video to show the load time differences for a couple of other events, in addition to the Zone event I previously showed. There are many of you who believe I 'doctored' the video or cut the non-ad video short to make the difference look bigger than it really is. I assure you that's not the case. I don't think I clarified exactly what I was loading in the last video. I have Wipeout HD, with the Fury expansion, and the 2.01 patch. I loaded a Racebox Zone event on Syncopia, and on my system that loads in just under 5 seconds. For the past 2 days, I really wish I could have posted on GAF.

This video shows the load times for a Detonator event, a regular Race event, and that same Zone event. All audio is from the top screen, non-ad video this time. And at the end, I have camcorder footage of me launching the game from the XMB and loading the Zone event, just to show again that it loads in about 5 seconds. Please remember, the ads are gone now, but I started putting this together before I got the news of Sony pulling the ad, and I want to show it anyway since I finished it. Besides, some of you seem to like the F-Zero GX music.

I have no idea if my hardware has any impact on load times. Just so everyone knows what these were captured from, I have a launch model 60GB PS3. I have replaced my hard drive with a Seagate Momentus 7200.3 320GB drive. I'm on the latest 2.80 firmware. The game is running at 720p for capture purposes.


The point of my previous video that made it all over news sites was to show the largest difference in load time that I could find, and that Zone race was the shortest load time I came up with. If you have Fury and the latest patch, try loading a Racebox Zone event on Syncopia, and your load time should be about 5 seconds. There's no editing going on, load times for Zone events are short, and load times with Fury and the latest patch in general are shorter than they used to be.

Thanks for taking the time to record and post this video. Even though I don't own a PS3 I couldn't stand the stupid defense force on GAF. This clearly proves that it does delay (and it doesn't need to be situational).

7200RPM DRIVE PEOPLE

My drive might be slightly faster, but I've had several people load the exact same event, and they get about 5 seconds to load on their stock 5400RPM drives. But let's say I had a sickenly fast drive, like an SSD, and the level took only 2 seconds. I'm entitled to do so, as Sony allows it, and it would still be wrong for them to take away my quicker speed that I paid for.

Hi, I am wondering if there are any ads in WipEout HD now in 2010 and if so what is the nature of that advertising. Before I purchase, ya know. :D

If you're ever feeling squirrelly enough to make another quick video of current advertising, I'd love to see it.

If there is no advertising anymore at all, I'd love to hear that even more.

ya before i got Fury addon regular Wipeout HD i got ads telling me to buy Fury every so often
