I am so grateful that these young Black brothers are endeavoring to help the community. I especially agree with the host, Earl Christian III, about getting the business that benefit from our communities to benefit our communities by giving back and contributing to scholarships for the community youth. This is a concept that the community needs to understand, embrace, petition for, and INSIST UPON.!

Becoming economically literate to what end? The cornerstone of "knowledge of self" must accompany this movement. There must exist some bond that is strong enough to break through the American capitalist mindset of separation, or the protection of ones' self, that our people are sold on. I believe in the "I = WE" concept towards the fulfillment of true justice across the globe.

Juslam...thank you for your comment. "Knowledge of self" is truly an invaluable asset to possess. Like you, I too feel that we have to break away from the current mindset if we are to become an economically sound, INTER-dependent community. Truly only "WE" can win a championship..."I" alone cannot. I am hopeful that others will begin to realize and truly understand the magnitude of our situation...which at the end of the day affects everyone.

It is time for the ones who are able to open up businesses, to do so with-in our own community and provide the ones who really need them with jobs. We have to keep it black in our community n stop giving our money these forigen groups. we have to run these non black owned companies out of our communities non violently n just cut off their source of income in our hood.

CrowdPleeza, what urbanwallstreet said is true about low-cost products and even that is a cultural thing because Asian convenience store owner will form associations so they can buy in bulk to get discounts and therefore their products are cheaper than you most black business because most blacks are out there in business alone.I agree with what you said though.Hip Hop is a culture that have allow many black entrepreneurs to build empires because understanding the culture is a barrier of entry.

One reason Asian businesses do well in Black areas is they are there, offering low-cost products. Sadly blacks have been programmed to be consumers, as opposed to producers. Lastly, and most unfortunate, we don't seen to value black businesses in our communities. Often, when one opens it closes. We blacks truly begin to value ourselves, then we too will possibly have similar succeses. Though there are many other contributing factors that must be recognized, these are just a few in my opinion.

Then what's your view on why Asian businesses are doing well in Black areas? Their culture isn't similar to Black-American culture.

I think it's because Asians have focused on selling products that many Blacks are known to like. Black entreprenurs could be doing the same. I mean a Black business person could make a lot of money selling car rims to Blacks.
