Gugas backhand is the greatest 1 handed clay courter backhand ever, its ones of the very best 1 handers period. He didnt need to slice ever 2nd or 3rd ball to stay in a rally. And he hit so many amazing winners off that wing, he had the great disguise, his forehand was also great but the backhand was from another planet, He killed musters High ripping topspin shots to the backhand (when they played at RG), hed do the same to Rafa

I think Guga, at his best, could beat Nadal on clay...

I showed this comment to a couple of my other tennis friends and they just laughed.

You clearly didn't know Marat had been playing in pain for almost 3 years, even if you did, you don't think this makes any difference, especially to a 6'4'' 200lber who moved as well as any big man hence the reason why he is the tallest ever number 1 in the world.

You seem to think that Marat's movement now is even 30% of what is was, when it clearly isn't.

I can reply to you whenever I want.

After 2000? Safin had multiple injuries in 2001 and that was Kuertens last great year, so what do you expect? He is temperamental because that is simply him, genetics. You can't change this easily. I wouldn't like him as much if he was an emotionless robot.

I don't care if you're a fan or not, you seem like a guy who knows nothing about the game.

And by the way what do you mean "failed to meet Kuerten in later rounds"?

haha, Kuerten never done ANYTHING after 2005, so what are you talking about? He was crippled, he couldn't even win first rounders never mind apparently reach these later rounds that you say he did. Go do your homework, mate.

    Bullshit.

Marat won Beijing, Madrid, Paris and the AO.

He couldn't play and defend any of those tournaments, so after the AO 06, he was ranked 50. THAT's what took him down the rankings. Don't give me that shit.

Marat was tired in this match, he played an absolute epic vs Keifer and was done for, his fitness levels werent the best in 2002.

It's not opinion, he played with pain for years after the knee injury, his movement far more laboured, get a clue please.

Marat's mind had nothing to do with this rivalry being killed. haha

Kuerten got injured and then Marat had several injuries.

Marat was even more temperamental when he was at the top of the game than after he got injured in 05.

Top 2 for sure. If both Guga and Safin played like in 200; it would be Safin Kuerten and Federer in the top 3. But whi knows, Federer might never have emerged if these two kept going along with Hewitt. Federer made his mark when all quality players were out of play for some time; and Agassi's decline had begun.
