Second take, the first one didn't work for some reason. These pics were taken at the Expo during our breaks. We gigged there for 5 days at the main hall. We hung out with other musicians backstage. Cool cats, Rockpile from Japan with American Alan Merrill, a group from the Philippines called The D'Swooners, and The Arrival from the UK were the headliners. GS band The Tigers performed too. Other pics were taken at the Collegiate Club at Tachikawa Air Base..
Hey! Thanks for posting this! I'm at 0:30 with my Gibson guitar (still have it!) backstage, also at 2:00 with Tom Kuhata of The Rock Pilots and hanging in the dressing room at 3:02 with you guys and some of the other bands, I remember you guys well, you were good people and really great on stage! Cheers! - Alan M.

How long did you stay in Japan Alan? I've been trying to be an actor here in LA for quite a while now. Let me know when you're gigging in town okay? I use a Breedlove 12-string and Godin now....Roberto

@usafbrat50 - Hey Roberto! I was in Japan from '68 til 1974. I left Japan and went to the UK and lived and worked there until 1980. I'm so glad to see these pics, because I had almost nothing of from Expo 70 before. Can you please send me jpg copies to my email?

I'll send the pics to you, do you want just the backstage stuff or all the Expo pics? Go USAF! I'm a brat myself my Dad worked on B-47's when we were stationed at Brize Norton RAF in the early 60s. I used to watch TOTP and Ready, Steady, Go! If you're on facebook can you add me? I go by Roberto Kawata there.

I had a couple of 335s in the late 70s after listening to Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour. I ended up with a Howard Roberts Fusion, an L6 and then switched to Strats for a while. In Japan I mostly used a MIJ Mosrite 'cos I loved The Ventures. A friend of mine wrote Diamond Head for them and played guitar for The T-Bones.
