Approximately 7,000 high school students drop out every school day, which translates to one in three students. Once students make the decision to drop out, they lack the tools to compete in today's society and diminish their chances for greater success in the future.

But the decision to drop out of school does not happen overnight; it comes after years of frustration and failure. Often, those that drop out have run out of motivation and have no source of support or encouragement in school or at home. The goal of the BoostUp campaign is to support, encourage, and create an identity for those who may be at risk of dropping out.

Thanks to a variety of national resources, including www.mentoring.org - which provides a zip code based search of mentoring and similar volunteer opportunities - the BoostUp campaign is providing tools for local communities to keep their students on the path to graduation.

  • This is an awesome vid, everytime i hear lebron say this on the commercial its very inspiring. The only thing i dont understand is the math involved in the statistic provided by America’s Promise Alliance. 7,000 students drop out every school day. 24 hrs = 1 day|1440 min = 1 day|86400 sec = 1 day. Therefore if 7000 students drop out every 86,400 sec. then its equiv. to 12.3 seconds a day, and not 26 sec. im a genius right? if not someone please tell me if 7,000 does = 26 seconds.and how?

  • best player in the nba, but yea, he didnt drop out. he just skipped college all together, that is SO much better...

  • song?

  • So when Lebron says "My life is full of statistics, the thing is I could have dropped out of school and become one myself." I don't think he realizes that by not dropping out, he is still part of those statistics.. I guess not dropping out really didn't help much with his knowledge of "statistics"

  • coming from a guy that skipped college to play in the nba

  • @edemon86 he is the Player all Quarters -.- Lots of Players Miss in the last Minutes as him.. he's great and a beast but can't be PERFECT

  • U got the biggest Heart. I love you <3

  • @edemon86 That statement isn't totally false... but c'mon, he's got the stats to prove he's the best. :P

  • lol, wow no views...
