http://www.rachelsvineyard.org Fr. Frank Pavone, Pastoral Director of Rachel's Vineyard, reflects on some misunderstandings about the healing aspect of Rachel's Vineyard Retreats. In this video, Fr. Frank tells us that "Sometimes the Rachel's Vineyard retreats are misunderstood as if we meant to say that all the healing a person needs, takes place in the course of those two and a half days."
Fr. Frank goes on to stress that this is simply not the case. "We all realize that healing is a life long Journey." What does happen is that "there are certain moments of that journey where we experience tremendous insight, where we get new motivation, where we turn the corner and realize that healing is possible, and when God gives us extra doses of His grace, and His light and His strength and His healing." And this is all possible "because of the power of the Word of God, because of the power of the community gathering on these retreats that these Rachel's Vineyard weekends are in fact those special moments of grace."
Fr. Frank ends with an exhortation to not over simplify. "Don't let people think we are saying 'you get all your healing all at once as magic, one two three...' No, but there is grace. And grace does and can come in those special encounters." The Rachel's Vineyard weekends provide precisely such an encounter.
