January 28, 2011. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. In what will be remembered as one of the most pivotal days of the Egyptian democratic revolution, the Egyptian government under the direction of president Hosni Mubarak has attempted to stop protests by shutting off the Internet and all cell phone service throughout the entire nation of Egypt. Mubarak thinks it will cripple the movement. It has the opposite effect. it galvanizes the pro-democracy protesters against their oppressive leader and clearly demonstrates to the Egyptian people and the rest of the world that the Mubarak regime abuses its power and its own people and must be stopped.
