The Ampeg Diamond Blue Series J-20 Jet was a pleasure to have in Gearwire Studio. It was always well-mannered, never speaking in harsh tones and at the flip of a switch, it really brightened up the room when we were feeling gloomy. This amp sounds as beautiful clean as it does with your guitar plugged into the bright input and the volume cranked up to the breaking point of the 6V6 tubes inside.

  • Ampeg promotion blows(what few there are).

    The amp has exceptional features(large alnico magnet speaker,pine cab,PTP wiring,good components,tube rectifier,tube tremolo)....)*Costly* quality stuff for sure yet ...

    Hey Ampeg!!!Listen up!

We need REAL SAMPLES to listen to.This guy hosting knows little about the amp he's describing.

  • Disappointing demo. 6V6's don't distort as much as other tubes? That depends on what you feed them!

Also, not all Rock and Roll is ultra-high gain distortion with v-shaped eq. Would that amp would probably sound pretty good with some Stones-style rhythm guitar, Dick Dale or Link Wray? I guess we won't know, nor will we know how it sounds with anything but that guy's sound on the #4/#5 positions. The video cuts off when he says "let's try another guitar".. is there going to be a follow up?

Ampeg has stopped making this particular model. You’ll have to buy a used amp. I found mine on Ebay.

  • @philbio66 oh cool i will check them out im mostly a blues player

I love it. The clean tones from this amps are gorgeous - great for rock, blues or jazz. The distortion is OK. At lower gain settings, it's good for blues style playing.

  • @philbio66 how do you like it?

  • I bought the reissue Reverberocket. It's a 50- watt 2x12 combo with a beautiful clean tone. It almost soinds like a cross between a Fender and a Vox.

  • not to be that guy but uh... what's the song in the intro? i feel like it's a rock and roll standby but can't quite think of the name or the writer!
