  • I end up occasionally selecting and alternate (wooden) target. For variety. Yeah, variety. Like the target butt frame. Anyhow, I do the same thing with my multitool, I use the wire cutter part of the pliers to get a good grip and then lever the point out. Sometimes this leaves little divots in the steel that prevent me from easily screwing the point back in. The file on the multitool makes quick work of those. I put a little stringwax on the threads and then put the point back in the arrow.

  • @flyflung Stringwax - Yes, I do too. I use left helical fletching and that tends to unscrew the points. I've use left wing feathers for over 40 years now so I have too much inventroy to switch to right wing fletching :-)) Sounds like you know but for others- Left wing fletching isn't a problem with wood arrows and traditional glue on points. If you are using screw in adapters on your wood arrows then you have the same quick change options and thread problems as aluminum and carbon arrows.

  • Wait a minute.. Them ain''t wooden arrows! ;)

Nice video as always! Thanks for sharing.

  • @cheroxx I do shoot em sometimes, honest… but for the past few years now I find aluminum and carbon easier to work with. The name “Woodenarrows” is meant to represent my feelings for traditional archery, traditional equipment and traditional ways, not necessarily for the actual shooting of wood arrows. If it’s any comfort, I shoot ONLY wood arrows from my longbows. That IS traditional :-)

  • I don't believe there is a day that goes by that I don't use my Leatherman for something, and I sure don't let it out of my sight! I agree, great tip...tip, get the point?. Thanks

  • @bowman321123 Ha, great pun there. Yes, I really appreciate my multitool and it truly is always with me either on my side or in a carry pack if I am without a belt for some reason.

  • Seems like carrying a few nuts or maybe an insert with the sides ground flat [ like hex bar ] might be a good idea to protect the threads while extracting ?

  • I've had to dig a few points out of the gum trees around my club.

Wouldnt go shooting without the multi-tool. There just so handy.

  • Excellent demo. It is a great innovation with modern designs and what can be done with the modular arrow tips. Thanks for showing this. Always a pleasure to watch you at your 'real' work.

  • @Woodenarrows - I also use carbons for the exact same reason, especially when roving/stumping! I even reinforce them with aluminum tubing, which really makes them tough! However I do feel cedars/boo arrows are more alive and I get a better feel for them, to bad they break to easily.. Keep sharing those lovely vids, and stay safe :)
