  • This is the best yarn extensions how-to video I've found here. I've been looking to do these on my own hair instead of dyeing it (which kills the hair). How long do you think it would take to do an adult woman's hair? I have the yarn but I'm guessing I'll need the whole weekend to do my whole head.

  • @Chunchmeow - It takes me around 8 hours to do her whole head, I think it would be pretty much the same on an adult woman. I split her head into 4 parts and each section takes me around 2 hours.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting so many videos. I get so many ideas from you. My partner and I have adopted a AA sone and daughter. Our son has very fine hair and our daughter has more traditional AA hair. I LOVE braiding her hair and we are about to take the beaded box braids out tomorrow and I think yarn extensions will go in this weekend. Do you think it will her her hair since she is only 2 years old? I really want to try it thought. Please advise when you get time. THANK YOU! NCT

  • @ntomsonatc - yep! You can do yarn braids on a two year old. Just don't make them very long because then they are heavy and that strains her baby hair and also you don't want her to accidentally get them stuck under a leg or arm while crawling around the house (not because she can't walk just cause that's what little kids do) and I have heard of locs or yarn braids getting pulled out of the head before! (never happened to either of my girls!) Also make the boxes a bit bigger than mine.

  • hi.when you get this done, when you get it taken down does your natural hair come out?

  • @cutie111228 - Any time I take out a hairstyle some of her natural hair comes out. But that is not because of breakage or any damage from the extensions. It is because we shed hair every day, and while the hair is in braids for an extended amount of time, all of the hair that would normally be shed daily, is trapped in the braid. So when I unbraid and then do my combing and detangling I get a lot of shed hair!

  • Very Nice :)

  • first, let me say that your daughter is BEAUTIFUL! :) and second, thank you very much for sharing your technique for the yarn extensions. My daughter has been wanting these for some time, and Ive been rather afraid to do them ;) but Im going to chance it this weekend. <3

  • @MsMeme01 I second your comment.

  • you did a very good job but some advise on a more natural appearance is to seal the ends after you tie them. It will lock the ends giving the illusion of a natural locked dread. You can accomplish this will sticking the ends in boiling hot water or just burning the ends with a lighter. Good Job!!!!!

  • I LOVE IT!!!
