Some of this live music is pretty good
-
Ralph Marterie'sLead alto was Len Gagliardi, on the hit recordings of the orchestra, Jack Gaylo was 2nd alto, in this video it was Len not Jack, Jack might have gotten the lead spot after Len retired. Look it up. Len Gagliardi was the one who played the lead on Caravan, Skokian, and the sweet alto solo in Up the Lazy River with Rusty Drapper. I know Len and Jack were very good friends, but The Saxymaxy has it all wrong.

Ralph always put together great bands with some of the finest talent. That's Jack Gaylo on lead alto. One of the world's finest saxophonists to lead a section. They don't get that beautiful sound that he had anymore. He was a great friend and mentor. He was also Ralph's road manager for many years right up to the end.

After Midnight was my very favorite jitterbug tune. Won a jitterbug contest to it in 1952 (or thereabouts). It has a great jitterbug beat.

Well, Haley´s Tenorman was - as far as i know - member of this band before his career as one of the Comets. His name was Rudy Pompilli, like mentioned below. But i didn´t recognize him in this clip. The Baritonesaxplayer was also called Rudy, but his last name was something like Parrow (can´t remember).
