Today's show is a little different. I was asked by the Center for Creative Photography to produce a video for an exhibition they are working on. The idea was to show a basic overview of the darkroom print making process including how an enlarger works, how a print is made and basic burning and dodging techniques. The timing is quite good in that we've been covering a whole series on black and white. So it fit into the series quite nicely.

  • Hi im doing photography at college, im looking forward to spending all day in the darkroom tomorrow, I found your video very helpful, thankyou!!

  • Excellent! I also like that you talk a little slower in this video. You might want to cut down on the coffee! LOL One thing that viewers with a Beseler 4x5" enlargers may want to consider is getting a used condenser housing, removing the condensers and popping it into their enlarger. Then you can use above-the-lens 6x6" contrast filters. Putting filters below the lens (in the optical path) can degrade contrast. If anyone interested, email me for pictures of the setup.

  • Most useful podcasts I have ever seen - Maybe an odd thing to say but I want to learn from you in person
