Karl, what is your music education?
Ferien7 3 months ago
@Ferien7 I'm an autodidact composer and pianist. I've always preferred learning/studying on my own.

@KarlNerman do you have any formal education/training? Even if not, your ideas come from somewhere, what are you influences if so?
Ferien7 in reply to KarlNerman (Show the comment) 3 months ago
@Ferien7 Autodidact means I'm self-taught, without a formal education. My absolutely biggest influence is Mozart. I'm also influenced by Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky and a few more.

@KarlNerman I'm well aware what autodidactic means... But in truth, you don't actually teach yourself, you use outside sources to influence yourself and your learning. Therefore in theory, your influences teach you, not yourself, and those influences are what I wanted to know about. Nonetheless, you answered the question, so thank you.

@Ferien7 Well, I would say it's a mix of outside influences and an inner will to explore music on my own that shaped my music. My playing technique is completely self-taught, since I've never played other composers works or piano exercises.
And regarding influences teaching me vs me teaching myself - I think that's just semantics. You're welcome, let me know if you have any more questions.
