I was able to force penatrating oil in the the frozen space between the cast iron bearing and the steel shaft by filling the oil hole with penatrating oil, inserting a close fitting shaft and striking the shaft with a bronze mallet. It is estimated that a pressure spike of 50,000 psi with a duration of a couple of milliseconds was created. This spike forced the oil into the rusted shaft/bearing intercface and resulted in the loosening of the joint and subsequent removal of the shaft from the bearing. Previous attempts to press the shaft out of the bearing had failed, using presses that generated up to 10 tons.
