March 09 a friend and I will be traveling to the same place only by car. Starting from Albuquerque across I 40 [El Morro/El Mapais/Acoma] through to Flagstaff and Williams up to the Grand Canyon onwards to Monument Valley then east to Mesa Verde and the Four Corners region. yeah, Shiprock is what's left of the magma chamber, and the ridge was an underground lava dike. Extinct volcanic remnants make some of the most interesting structures in nature.
