This is sad(especially for that little boy), but I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for the addicts. Using drugs is a conscious decision that people make. They see how it obliterates people's lives and reduces them to mere shadows of their former selves, yet they start using them anyway because they have this "That won't happen to me" attitude.

in my town it went like this: we were this group of people that started going out quite a lot when we were like 16. so one day someone came up with some pot and then a few months later someone showed up with speed and then xtc, lsd, coke etc and in the end almost all of the people were on heroin. let's face it, once u r in the pot scene sooner or later u will be exposed to other drugs than pot. so it definitely can be a gateway to people who do other drugs as well. doesn't have to be, though.

something like a hard drug such as meth. I know for a fact I am smart enough to stay away from that stuff. I wont ever try it not even if my friends do it or if something compels me too. I have also witnessed my mom with an alcohol addiction and i know what an addiction can do to the person or their family. So for me its really easy to limit myself on certain things...

ok here is my opinion. FUCK THAT WHOLE BULLSHIT SAYING MARIJUANA IS GATEWAY DRUG, first of all marijuana is a way lighter drug than crack,coke,meth,heroin all of that stuff. You can't get hooked on marijuana i mean you could but thats if you do it everyday and you find life boring with out weed, i smoke maybe once a week or every other weekend. I think choosing to do other drugs has to do with how you were raised and your child hood. Besides i think you would have to be really stupid to do
