Anyone want to contribute their reflections - email me seanflanagan at sky.com, this man deserves his story to be told and to receive credit and remuneration for sharing it with the world, a living legend, one of many I admit, but still, Vasili Alexeev is synonymous, beyond all others, with the sport, discipline, courage, conviction, sacrifice, athleticism of weightlifting!

@colaloop Thanks for that, great to find more information about such a fantastic weightlifter;)

@Euadam Very difficult to have what people would expect in a physique with the lifestyle he has. Worked as a mining engineer, father, husband, weightlifter, shares in the cooking with his wife, garden work. His character is a much greater reflection.

@tvskillz Don't be so sure about the steroids. Alexeev is more intelligent than anyone could ever know.

@liftupPreview My bf has been trying to learn as much as possible about him from Russian sites. According to my bf, he keeps a privacy within his homeland also. Aleexev was very well aware of the politics involved in the sport, and he still thrived. He used his knowledge and education to help him with his training. I heard he served some time in the Red Army, but I don't know if that is true or not.

@leaba He was 5 lbs away from a 600 lb Clean and Jerk. My bf has been searching info about him for the past 3 yrs.

thats how you chop some goddam wood
about "biceps curls"... alexeev was known for a relative secrecy in training... very few were allowed to attend his training sessions. alexeev used many exersises that were not in a regular set for olympiv lifters. did anyone see him lifting weights IN the Don river?

The strongest man ever? Certainly never achieved his peak in competition. Anyone know his training bests?

alexeev liked to train alone and very few people were allowed inside the training hall when he was there. so, it's hard to say what his training best were.
