girl disappearing in front of her window.
She no longer sees the shark for the minnow,
now the soldiers have all come to play.
She has no more ribbons today.
girl disappearing. She's over and gone.
She's done with the sun, she's down with your songs,
now the sultans have all gone away.
She's had a very bad day.
She's watched her dreams burned as dry tinder.
She wears her pearls as black as the cinders.
And nothing is going to plan.
They sold her to a very bad man.
girl disappearing. Now no one can see her
unless she screams and runs for a camera,
but they tire of the tragic it seems.
She's just another bad dream.
She's standing as straight as a funeral marcher,
back to the archer, head to the hills,
but no one has bothered to aim.
Turns out change is always the same.
She's watching each day for the return of the swallows,
for some little sign God will allow
her ribbons to all come undone.
She tells of these dreams to no one.
girl disappearing.
She feels the bomb -
her feet are not touching the ground.
