Animals dont have facial expressions.
A lion then always look sad to you.

@PinklittleApple
You obviously do not have any cats around. We DO have facial expressions, and we have different meows based on what we want.

i saw that natgeo channel where 20 lions took down an elephant but thats extremely rare.
this elephant probably died of thirst, disease or fighting with another elephant. It was already dead when the lions got it

The elephant was dead when we got to it, so we do not know how it died. Our guide told us that lions will take down elephants in the Savute. That Nat Geo show was filmed in this area (savute) of Botwsana. Also of interest, the second day we returned to the elephant, there was a different group of lions. Overnight they had fought of the previous set and taken over the kill.

how did the elephant die?

Savute Botswana was a marsh land many years ago, but the land tilted and the river no longer runs into the area. Now the land is so dry elephants walk a long way to get to water. They become weak, and a group of lions will take one down. After we returned from the trip we saw on the National Geographic channel, a show on savute where the lions were taking down an elephant.
Savute has a long history of water flowing into the area, then not for many years again.
