Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've posted anything, but yay summer is finally here. I finally had a chance to try out my new Audio-Technica AT2020 USB microphone I bought half a year ago!! :P

Please watch in Full HD for best results!!

Anyways, the video camera picture I am using is coming from the Logitech C910 HD Pro webcam and audio sound is coming from the Audio-Technica AT2020 USB microphone. The video gets a bit laggy as I assumed but my main focus was to just test the microphone. The Logitech webcam is recorded straight from the Logitech webcam program and the audio technica microphone is actually recorded from a separate program called Goldwave. Both programs running together was way too much for my slow laptop to handle and caused the webcam to lag a bit, but good thing the audio wasn't affected. :)

Overall, the sound from Audio-Technica AT2020 USB microphone sounds great in my opinion, not much ambiance is picked up, and it also picks up very smooth highs and lows. The sound is very clear and crisp, and the sound quality and durability is excellent for its price. The setup is very simple, no installing, preamps, cds, or anything is required, pretty much all that's required is to plug it in one of your USB ports and it's good to go. I would highly recommend this microphone for anyone wanting a great quality, simple to use, and affordable microphone to record with. The only cons are that you can't tweak and adjust any settings or features from this microphone compared to the Blue Yeti microphone. The Blue Yeti is also a great microphone, has awesome features, and is superb overall as well.

This microphone, combined with the Logitech C910 webcam (my setup), would be an excellent combination for anyone to just easily use, quickly click and set up, and simply record with though.

The piece I am playing is classical piece composed by Johann Kaspar Mertz. I really enjoyed playing this piece while I was in school, it's very relaxing and a fun piece to play in my opinion.

Thanks for watching and listening, please subscribe/comment/rate and add me as a friend if you'd like.

Also, if you have any questions or anything, please feel free to ask me! :)

  • also when you record it, can you hear your voice on the microphone while singing

or only until you stop recording and play on your computer?? pls answer :) thanks

  • @drowninyourbeauty hello, thanks for watching, but yup your pretty set when you plug the microphone into your usb port. I also downloaded an audio recording program for the mic and had it record with the webcam recording, then I merged both the separate video/audio files onto my recording program. Also I don't think you can hear your own voice on the mic while recording, or even it being audible in general, you can only hear it played back after you have stopped recording. :)

  • so you dont need anything but the microphone to plug in and your set to record videos? :)

  • @drowninyourbeauty yes pretty much, just make sure you have webcam if you want video and download an audio recording program like goldwave or audacity for example

  • hey do you experience any lag while recording the audio? and also what program did u use afterwards to put both the audio and video together??

  • @hahnus2895 Hi, the audio was actually fine when I recorded this, but I did experience a lot of lag with the video. To fix this I had to download an audio recording program using just the mic and have it simultaneously record with the webcam recording, then I merged both the separate video/audio files onto my recording program. I have both the audio and video synced successfully and running smoothly on my new videos, and sony vegas 10 is the program I used to merge and edit my videos with.

  • this guy is jacked

  • @Iam13ored Lol k. Thxs for making that clear.

  • @Villeum Haha yup, just plug it in, load your recording program, I have goldwave for example, select the microphone to record, and viola, crystal clear sound! Hmm a usb 1.0 or 2.0 is just required according to the system requirements, so a usb 3.0 should work too! Well, mine came with the mic :D

  • @hahnus2895 Lol :P

  • So I just plug it in and it works? Lol thats sounds a bit to easy without any configuration and stuff.

Hmm Should i use a USB 3.0 for this ?

  • wow look at those biceps :)

  • @piperzimmerman Hello, hmm I don't think it can, but I'm not exactly sure, maybe if you had some sort of converter? I would certainly look into just the regular audio technica at2020 and not the usb version, those can definitely be plugged into a mixer. :)

  • hi can this mic also be used without usb power? what if i plugged it straight to a mixer with 48v phantom power?

  • @samabbott2009 hmmm not exactly sure, I'm running windows xp so I think there's a good chance it'll work with windows 7

  • is this compatible with windows 7?

  • @blackdevilfin Hey thanks! I reallyy appreciate it, and will try my best to upload more! :D

  • untoter3 brought me here^^ nice guitar videos im subscribing to you please more they are great<3

  • @fukizawa haha yup, it's a great, simple and easy to use microphone, glad you enjoy it, thanks for watching!!

  • I've just got the USB AT2020 last week. It's great and so easy to use. I thought It would operate with a software or driver, but I just plug it into my laptop's USB and that's all. I mixed my recordings with Cool Edit Pro and they sound good and pro!!!

  • @thisblaackhole thanks!! :)

  • @lelangir hello there, hmm to be honest I don't think I hear a noise, then again it could possibly be the loud air hissing out of my laptop haha

  • @ohhiguy Hello, thanks for watching! :) I did indeed plug both usbs from mic and webcam into the computer, but it's actually a bit more complicated. The logitech program lets you choose the mic in the program, but it causes poor audio and video lag. Therefore I used a separate audio recording program (goldwave) to record the audio from the mic and the logitech program to record the video. I merged the video file into sony vegas, muted the audio from the video and synced the audio from goldwave.

  • Great video and sound. I am thinking about buying both the mic and webcam. I am sure I should know this, but did you plug in both USB in the computer and the computer just recognizes to not use the audio from the webcam? I love the simplicity of your setup. Great job! Thanks for sharing.
