SLEEPYTIME GIRL
Morning comes with a trashcan jangle
Quick as nails on a chalkboard slate
Tunnel on out of the bedsheet tangles
Sit and watch the coffee percolate
Now, mama don't like the rooster crowing
Don't like watching the sun unfurl
Catbird chatter or shadows growing
My little sleepytime girl
Tried a rouse and a rustle, a cajole and a coaxing
Sandman slips my me every time
Sausage sizzes and the muffins are toasting
Come on pretty baby, open up your eyes
I've brewed on up java by the gallons
Got creamer, my little dreamer and sugar to swirl
Some might say she is horizontally challanged
But I sure do love my sleepytime girl
Come Saturday, I'm gonna nail up those shutters
Cut the light through the window pane
Set my baby drifting beneath the covers
In the small boat between the bedposts, she just sail away
Monday morning, I'll try to wake her
Send her on out into the big old world
Hate to be your dream shaker
I'm just waking up my sleepytime
I've heard all of your alibis
Waking up my sleepytime girl
