A short movie about a troubled man is followed by a mysterious woman. She offers him a free train ride to anywhere he wants, which he takes. The woman helps the man and he realizes at the end of the train ride that she is the homeless woman he helped in the beginning of the movie. Told through the eyes of an older man remembering back in time, to his younger years.
Shooting on a train for your first short project was a challenge and we had our share of learning through experience! The movie was created to work with voice, so there is a lot of dialogue. The story was also written so we had something to shoot and edit. The main cameras were Panasonic HVX 200's and some fill and cutaways with a Canon XH-A1. No lighting. One mic. No acting experience! Edited with Final Cut Pro, Motion, After Effects and Magic Bullet Looks.
Nice. Was this scripted or just flying by the seat of their pants? NICE WORK either way, very professional. I've got the XH A1 - I'm thinking about picking up the Sennheiser ME66 microphone - any experience with that mic?

No experience with that mic. I have a sony directional mic and the on board mic.

How were you able to maintain peace & quiet in the small space you had to work in? Were there no other riders with you?

Come on, this was a magic train!
Yes we we're the only people on this train car. We shot the search sequence with the whole train empty before the train left the station and before the passengers got on.
