STS-128 aka Space Shuttle Discovery Lands at Edwards, CA today at 17:53PST (5:53pm) on September 11th, 2009.
Unfortunately, we kinda forgot about it till after the trademark double sonic boom reminded us that Discovery was landing here today. By the time we got on base, Discovery had already landed :( Oh well, NASA isn't due to stand down the shuttle fleet till 2012, so maybe we'll get another chance to capture it landing.
Since my wifey doesn't have flightline access, I didn't wanna leave her standing on the outside whilst I went inside to see touchdown; so we had to shoot from the roadside.
OBTW- The large building in one of my pans is known as the Benefield Anechoic Chamber, which is where Michael Bay shot Optimus Prime at the Autobots Earth HQ from the movie "Transformers II"
COOL... I was five-six years old when the first shuttle took off. Actually wanted to be an astronaut for sometime partly because of how I was fascinated with the Space Shuttle when I was a kid. Incidentally, I eventually got into Engineering from my love of Transformers since they first came out.
