WTSP Hurricane Charley 1/2 (2004)

Hurricane Charley did not strike Tampa directly as it was expected to do. Part 1 of 2. WTSP was forced to evacuate its studio location and went to a still station ID graphic and no sound about a minute after this clip ended.

It still amazes me how tiny Charley was. It looks even smaller than Andrew. I was in West Palm at the time, and I remember the storm well and how awful it was for Punta Gorda. We got our fair share that year, but this was by far the worst.

@ILovestorms they said it would but Charley caught people off-gaurd and the Tampa residents evacuated for nothing XD

but its sucks SO MUCH for the place that actually ended up getting hit

Charley did not hit Tampa, at all. It hit Pine Island, Cayo Casta, Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte, over 100 miles south of Tampa
