ChulaKirby--I understand why you are so upset, I would be too, that's horrible. I would ask, though, that you you remember about all the people across the country who deal with that every day because they have NO care at all. I heard recently of a little boy with no healthcare who died from Asthma. People are scared to get sick, because they have nowhere to go. On the other side, I recently talked to a man with Medicare who's life was saved with a new pacemaker. We HAVE to do something.
BTW: this event was occurring in the same timeframe as the memorial service of Ted Kennedy. You would have thought a little more somber expression might have been on order for the passing of the Liberal Lion.
IS IT TIME?! Go to USRevolution2 (dot com) and get your flag of the Second American Revolution. It looks exactly like the Betsy Ross Flag, but with a Roman numeral "II" in the center of the 13 stars. The flag is in all 50 states and spreading from porch to porch. It is also MADE IN AMERICA (Texas).
Eligible? My mother was eligible for hospice and the hospital and medicare people knew that. So why did they attempt to throw her out? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why. To turn their worst case scenerio into a best case scenerio and cut down on that $58 Trillion. Individual freedom isn't the government requireing you to have ins or you will get penalized in higher income taxes.
I'd rather a bored beaurocrat figure if I'm eligible for treatment than a for-profit insurance company INCENTIVIZED by profit denying me what's signed up for. Your dying mom belonged in hospice, not hospital. 58 TRILLION in Medicare is potential payout worse case, NOT currently owed.
HMO/PPO, you wait in a waiting room, goin to specific doc's insurance co's dictate. Enslaved by your job's medical insurance, you'd be freed to seek work elsewhere if it was portable. THAT's individual freedom.
Or paying insurance for 25 years, then having your child come down with a very serious condition... and not have your insurance company bat an eye at visiting 20 different doctors over 3 years, 51 pounds of MRIs and 6 digit treatments
Only to have the govt deny the coverage. My mother was on Medicare and the hospital attempted to throw her out when she was dying. The former hemlock society (Compassion and Choices) is taking credit for authoring section 1233 (end-of-life counseling). The govt owes 58 trillion dollars in Medicare and SS and want to rewrite the rules now. And you are helping them screw you? (shaking head)
No to "for profit" insurance companies deciding whether or not, after 25 years paying premiums, you're too old to have an "elective by pass" or cancer restorative surgery, versus the govt. Nope, let's give all the money to the banks, and grind all the needy and old into Soylant green patties and feed the rest of the population.
Why be concerned-- just whine into an empty sky on Sunday and get forgiven for screwing your neighbors Monday to Saturday!
