Trek shields are designed primarily to absorb Thermal energy and EM damage. They aren't meant for blocking kinetic or explosion damages. Although Earth Force Destroyers had thermal lances (particle beams weapons) they also had alot of kinetic weapons. Not sure who would win in a fight between Earth Force and Federation Ships honestly. But as we can see, it would be a hell of a fight.

come on guys you know starfleet are years ahead of the humans on b5 the only ship to put up a good fight is excalibur and thats only coz of the vorlon tec and its not the federation its the evil ccp there ships are made for battle

Well I disagree with kaosruin, Partical beam Weapons are not Superior to Phased Weapons unless they had vast amounts or power to Push it through, Trek in it's series spoke of Partical beam weapons being inferior except when they engaged the Hosunock who had over 500 Gigawatts of Partical energy, I doubt those B5 Ships had that kind of Power source, and the Shields would have absorbed them anyway. Trek also could easily win with a Trilithium Device fired into the sun causing a super nova,

well in theory, particle beam weapons of b5 would be vastly more powerful that phased weapons, but the torps ofc are def a one hit one kill from the trekys, in equal numbers, id say the shields give them a advantage, but manvorability is on the b5 side.

Yoah, nice, but Star Trek Ships have got Shields. So they're more resistent against energy based weapons.
