This record, which was recorded in September 1935, was a big hit when it was released, and by early 1936, the song (which had by then been recorded by other performers on several other labels) was taking the country by storm. Credit for the song is given to Mike Reilly and Eddy Farley on the record label, but according to different accounts that can be found on the internet, the song's origins are somewhat murky.

This is one of the records that my Aunt Charlotte purchased new in the 1930s.

This is a great and very upbeat version of this song - thanks for posting. I have the version by Henry Hall and the BBC dance orchestra on my you tube page. I think both are great.
