Notice the pin above the selector. Good old Colt decided to put in a sear block inside the receiver. They also milled the underside of the bolt carrier all the way to the rear so the bottom of the bolt carrier from the firing pin back is open. And they also put a non-mil-spec screw in place of the front take down pin. The Colt Sporter Match HBAR R6601 also came with two 20 round magazines - which were pop-riveted to a 5 round capacity. Grrrrrr...

ive never been issued a heavy barreled 20 inch rifle. i think the hbar is more of a civilian deal.

Yeah, that's not an a2 upper, it's an a4. The a2 does not have the flat top reciever with the removable carrying handle/sight.

When I was in the reserves we were using the Diameco (now Colt Canada) C7A1 20 inch barrel and full stock so I think i'd want this style AR over an M4 style. Can you still get these with a bayonet lug? I know Rock River still makes an M16A2 style rifle not sure if they are a 1:7 or 1:9 twist though. Sootch do you own this rifle? If so how do you like it compared to the M4 style? Even today the Canadian Army uses this style 20" with a triad rail and an adjustable stock.

The A2 was adopted by the Corps in 1983, and by the Army in 1985 according to version II of "The Black Rifle".
@Solareffects You should put together your own AR15, it's very easy and cheaper.
