The MX-300 was introduced in April 1975, MT-500 in 1977. Not sure of the month.
However the MX-300 "S" Synthesized came on the market probably mid to late 80's.
I recall it appeared in Police Call 1988. I have a few MT-500's (UHF and VHF) I have considered having the VHF elements recrystalled for 2m repeater operation.
Excellent work. Was it an easy procedure to install the soundboard? I'm in Adelaide Australia and we're very VERY limited as far as do it yourself electronics.
ha ha. that's funny. cleaver. i've had my share of working on these radios. they're awesome units that are pretty decent with staying on frequency and are really easy to adjust if they drift off frequency. besides teh size, a need for a truck system, and narrow band usage, these radios are top notch stuff. i was sad to see these turned in for newer models that are manipulated by computer only.
