The tejas is equipped with

The cannon comes in a basic variant GSh-23, and more popular GSh-23L , differing mostly in adding a muzzle brake, lowering recoil force. These cannon was standard fit on late-model MiG-21 fighters (M, MF, SMT, bis), all variants of the MiG-23, the SOKO J-22 Orao and IAR 93, and the tail turrets of the Tupolev Tu-22M 'Backfire' bomber and some late-model Tu-95s. In that application, it had the unusual ability to fire infrared flares and chaff rounds, allowing it to function as both a weapon and a dispenser of anti-missile countermeasures. It is also mounted on late small series

Astra air-to-air (AA) missile

The Astra missile is an air-to-air (AA), beyond visual range (BVR) missile under development by India. This is the first indigenous air-to-air missile developed by India. The range of this missile is 80 km in head-on chase and 15 km in tail chase. This missile was successfully tested without control and guidance systems on May 9 to May 12, 2003.
India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is developing this advanced beyond visual range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) for its Mirage 2000, MiG-29, Sea Harrier, Su-30, and the Light Combat Aircraft [LCA]. Astra looks like an elongated Matra 530. It uses an indigenously developed solid fuel propellant, though DRDO is believed to be looking at rocket/ramjet propulsion similar to that used in its AKASH SAM project. The missile's onboard radio-frequency seeker has been designed in India. It will have an active homing range of 15 km. The missile has a pre-fragmented warhead & is fitted with a proximity fuze. A radar fuze already exists for the Astra, but the DRDO is currently working on a new laser fuze.

  • Hindu times reports.

“With empirical data indicating that indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, in its present form, will not be able to meet the Air Staff Requirements (ASRs), the Indian Air Force (IAF) has raised serious questions over the future of the aircraft’s long term induction into the squadron service”. “IAF is unhappy with the Tejas’ performance,”

  • @Howard0Hughes , You are still sticking to the source of late 2006 wh hardly PRototype number 3 was On... Your datas are currently invalied as LSP 5 with Final Configurations Is Getting out which Would Eventually be handed over to the IAF Pilots On december 26th at the same time During the IOC.... IAF was sure Unhappy with its standards not matching to that of IAF, but at present The LCA has changed a lot, You cannot Ignore a Fighter aircraft whose avionics have been bettered than the su 30 MKI

  • India is just making its false claims for LCA in order to influence the world due to failure of LCA.It will be outdated by the time (2015) it will come out in full production. What a waste of time and money.

world can’t figure out India when it comes to projects like Arjun & LCA. Arjun-project started in 1972 & now almost 40 years later all they have shown only four prototypes, same story with LCA. It's world first fighter aircraft which has been inducted but still need operational clearance.

  • @amarnathnandu Although the LAC has been inducted with numbers of major defects as fighter aircraft but True Rome was not built in a day but that was rome. This rome (LCA ) the white elephant, the way its being going on for past 30 years, seems will not be get fully operational capability in next 5 years. But IAF can use this failed experience in future & can use this LCA as advance jet trainer or may be become beauty of museum or some public square to remind their 30 years of nonstop effort.

  • LCA is a learning experience for IAF,and an example of India stepping into areas completely unknown to it.Even the most developed nations and Pakistan have had problems and delays. This does not make LCA a weak aircraft. It is a very decent aircraft that can be used in IAF as advance trainer because as fighter its capabilities are v.limited and IAF can buy more decent aircraft in its price.

  • @amarnathnandu Poor planning, over-optimistic timelines and a lack of coordination with the Armed Forces led to cost and time overruns of major defence projects taken up by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). In all of the major projects — LCA, Arjun Tank, Kaveri engine and the Akash Surface to Air Missile — have the problems of “over-optimism” and poor planning.

  • @amarnathnandu LCA is 4.5 gen fighter .... the only problem faced by LCA is its engine... it's not as per requirement..... it uses composites material but still slightly heavy then estimated weight. A new engine is on way for which LCA has to be redesign. Furthermore it's design has one serious problem that it can't take out more than +6g turn..... weapon load is 4000kg but still can't pull a full weight..... some where near 2020 it will be fully ready as 4.5 gen fighter.

  • @amarnathnandu The LCA programme’s limited production & 20 aircraft IAF has ordered will fly with GE 404 IN20 engines.Though this engine has Digital Engine Control, these are not be able to generate required thrust for LCA specially at sea/low level.

Further more India has suspended it’s deal with Russia for buying advance jet trainer (YAK-130) as some senior officials of IAF wants to use LCA as advance trainer for IAF due to it v.limited operational capabilities as fighter.

  • WOW GREAT WORK MALIKA SARAWET DESH KE LOROOOOOOOO EAST OR WEST INDIA IS THE BEST JAI HINDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
