Ordinary boys
Happy knowing nothing
Happy being no one but themselves
Ordinary girls
Supermarket clothes
Who think it's very clever to be cruel to you
For you were so different
You stood all alone
And you knew
That it had to be so
Avoiding ordinary boys
Happy going nowhere, just around here
In their rattling cars
And ordinary girls
Never seeing further
Than the cold, small streets
That trap them
But you were so different
You had to say no
When those empty fools
Tried to change you, and claim you
For the lair of their ordinary world
Where they feel so lucky
So lucky, so lucky
With their lives laid out before them
They're lucky, so lucky
So lucky, so lucky, so

  • @mikedowd66 So true.

  • timeless..

  • @dekindin but clever ones who drop the cleverness and let everything be become the enlightened ones.

  • I like how he switchs from ordinary boys to ordinary girls, subtle but nice tough.....the song flows seamlessly.

  • I love when he sings "In their rattling cars"

  • They are around here. In their rattling cars. Pricks. All I can hear is horns honking and lad banter. I'm trying to read Capital Vol. 1 by Karl Marx for fuck's sake! I need quite!!!

  • Viva Hate is an incredible record, and there should be no revisionist reissues without a great song like this.

  • this track will be out of the viva hate reissue.....replaced by treat me like a human being.

  • There's always some comfort in a stereotype, but Morrissey is an embarrassing symbol of Englishness. Negative about everything does not equal cool.

  • I cry everytime I hear this because I know it's so true - Morrissey is a mirror to the truth. Everytime I listen, I not only feel sad, but it evokes a flicker of hope, because I know that others feel the same frustration, and that I am surely not alone. If you ever feel you're misunderstood - Morrissey understands.
