Art I have created from photos taken around Asheville NC, Sandbridge VA, Blue Mountain Lake and beyond. I like to think of photographs as my palette—textures, patterns and colors from nature—and the computer as my paintbrush.

I often aim my camera down toward the earth, finding things that many people overlook. How many times do you walk down the same path and never see the things beneath your feet? Shifting perspectives can uncover the beauty in some leaves in the mud, decaying debris, or the murk below the surface of the water. A closer look at arrangements of form and color in nature begins to blur the line between representational photography and abstract composition.

It's an Irish tune called Sheila Coyle's from the CD GREENFIRE: A CELTIC STRING ENSEMBLE featuring Ken, Laura Risk, and Robin Bullock. Over the years Ken has taught me (almost) everything I know about playing the hammered dulcimer. We can only hope that the next video like this that I publish will feature me playing(!) ...and that it happens soon... watch for new videos after my trip to Ireland in September.
