Ooh, this is gorgeous! There's a tiny moment, the second Peter takes her face in his hands, when Assumpta's eyes go wide and she takes a deep breath; her natural reaction to him touching her. And the you can tell rest of her half-hearted exasperation is a desperate attempt to cover the way he's making her feel.

I don't think at this point they were in love. Serious like, perhaps, but they're more like flirting teenagers. I don't think this scenario could have happened in later seasons because there was too much UST -- they probably would have started making out with a touch like that!
