These 'cab views' of the Weardale Railway from Bishop Auckland to Stanhope were filmed on a snowy Sunday 5th December 2010. Motive power was class 141 'Pacer' unit number 141 113. -Part 1 shows the route from just west of Bishop Auckland station to where the railway crosses under the A68 trunk road just west of Witton Le Wear. This section of the cab ride features Broken Bank, Newton Cap Viaduct, Primrose Hill Crossing, Escomb, George Pit, Witton Park (aka 'Etherley' station) -and the site of nearby Paradise Tip -now landscaped as 'Paradise park'. The train passes over the line's biggest engineering feature; Witton Park Viaduct, before passing through the site of Wear Valley Junction and onwards over the picturesquely named 'Abbatoir Crossing' and the restored Witton le Wear crossing.
