Ugh, really need to be able to edit youtube comments... Sorry, that first paragraph was a bit confusing.
correction:
was at the store the other day and happened to look at the iMacs and for a Mac with almost the exact same specs as my current computer with a smaller hard-drive and one screen (I have dual monitors..) cost $500 more than my whole setup.

Sorry for the spam and the mac hating. Was honestly just wondering.
To expand on that a little farther... I'm with you on not liking windows. I only use windows as a platform for gaming and photoshop, and even then I tend to run it on a virtual box. I'm a linux user myself so I can understand totally on disliking windows. I can even understand the appeal of OSX but honestly I had no idea macs were that much money.
The silly thing is the hardware is no different. Both run on intel (excluding AMD I guess...) is it just brand name or something? Sorry for the rant
What exactly is so appealing about them? I was at the store the other day and happened to look at the iMacs and for a PC with almost the exact same specs as my current computer with a smaller hard-drive and one screen (I have dual monitors..) cost $500 more. The iMac 24 inch is $1499 for bare bones. Why so friggin' much? They are built on intel chipsets. You can buy a PC with the same stats and install OSX for a 1/3ed of the price.
Thanks for the info. Also a mac user. Didn't know about that.

thanks kansaipj or naniwapj. Very helpful. I know I am not the only one who has had this problem. So this will be helpful for others.
I believe I have the 8th version of imovie. The same one atomicboyx uses. I've heard pros and cons about the new 9th one. I wonder how that works.
