The good folks at ESPN sent me the list of players who had already been chosen in their mock draft. I perused the list of 28 names. Then, I tried to figure out whom the 49ers would choose in that scenario.

Defensive linemen Kentwan Balmer (North Carolina) and Trevor Laws (Notre Dame) were on the board, as was offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus (Boston College). I also considered outside linebackers Quentin Groves (Auburn), and inside linebackers Jerod Mayo (Tennessee) and Dan Connor (Penn State). And then there was wide receiver James Hardy (Indiana).
