Over-fishing and climate change are being blamed for the world's diminishing fish stocks.

One of the most graphic examples is the decreasing numbers of tuna.

Experts are meeting in Mexico to discuss ways of protecting tuna stocks, as environmentalists warn that some species could be extinct in just three years.

Tony Birtley reports from the western Pacific island of Guam to see how the local fishing industry is being hit hard.

  • This is so important. Thanks for uploading this. We need Marine Reserves Now!

  • Business is the process when you turn natural resources into two outputs: Waste and virtual numbers on bank accounts. Our race is stupid and greedy. This is an explosive mixture.

  • Pothila, Marine Reserves will only help species which move very little, for instance, coral and bottom species. Tuna being migratory, Marine Reserves won't do much good. We need conservation laws globally, not just on US fisheries.

  • In my area , the gov. is creating waste. Making local inshore fisherman kill a species of fish to lawfully possess another. Lawfully making fisherman to harvest bycatch to keep another specie ! IS this methodical law just ??? Killing a specie unecessarily ?

  • omg poor fish!!!!

  • get the scoop by reading taras grescoe's bottom feeders. the reality of our oceans is directly connected to whether we make it as a species. we are in very serious do-do

  • many things threaten many indigenous cultures and lifestyles , but who will create change, and who will cause impact !!!

  • and who controls the EEZ not Guam it's the US. The local government realizes nothing, license fees to foreign long-liners-a US profit! Another abuse of a disenfranchised people forced to rely on handouts from the colonial oppressors.

  • Uh we do have Marine Reserves on Guam, miles worth. Hmmm this guy didn't make it on local media, i wonder why?

  • Pothila IIs SOOOOOOOOOOOOO RIGHT
