And that is from LOS ANGELES? Disgraceful. So glad Deborah Kerr didn't have to see that.

yes, another example of how shallow the News Dept's have become...

It's funny that anyone pronounces her name as 'Cur' or 'Car' since it's pronounced phonetically as 'Kerr' in her native Scotland.
I know that MGM are responsible for making it rhyme with 'Star' though for marketing purposes...

Deboraah Kerr- a jewel in the crown of acting talent- she had a real way of making your spine tingle- she shall be missed

It's like they didn't care at all...like Deborah Kerr was an afterthought or something.

I adore Deborah.

A graceful, beautiful and wonderfully talented women. They do not make women like her anymore. Reported with the talent, accuracy and precision to detail that our American cousins are world famous for.

In fairness, among the obits in my "channel," you will see much more thoughtful ones from your "American cousins." Go look!
Though it's intriguing that, among all the wonderful TV obits I posted (there are others on the 2nd page, including another US network), there has been more "curiosity" and thus many more views of this one. No doubt due to the description of the faux pas.
People apparently prefer to sneer than watch a loving remembrance about a woman, whom most adored.

I was told by a friend on the news team that a strong email was sent around the department and that the updated newscasts took care of the matter. Apparently, the cassette in the film library was just labeled "King and I" -- with no description as to whether it was the film or the Broadway revival, and the "newscaster" and other young staff members clearly didn't know the difference and probably even who Deborah Kerr was. This, of course is a sad indication of their knowledge of film history.

Note that the incompetent newscaster (?) on KCBS Los Angeles mispronounces her name as "cur" and includes a faux film clip attributed to Kerr in "The King and I." It is actually a scene from the Broadway revival in the 90's with Donna Murphy and Lou Diamond Phillips.
