  • Doesn't matter what you learn, it's all within oneself and if you stick one way that's fine as long as you train hard in it. What I do is constantly evolving and working on Martial technique or concepts, But there is no lower or higher way of fighting. As long as the techniques are trained to a practical and efficient standard it is good.

  • I've yet to see one guy ending up "dead" in a MMA or UFC fight, so much for realism. Most of the dangerous techniques have been banned in MMA, so that matches last longer and give greater entertainment value. Suckers are those who watch MMA but don't know what its about.

  • is this rellay karate because u are ment to put power into kata

  • If you want to defeat a UFC champion or a Karate master, buy a gun. If you want to learn how to fight in a ring, learn MMA. If you want to learn how to be more human and explore your potential, try a traditional budo free from competition. All this arguing is a waste of time.

It does matter what you learn, but only in relation to what you wish to achieve.

  • My iphone keeps slipping out of my hand. But I will not punch it. I will be self controlled.

  • Ei westernese, how is argueing bussiness.... Productive... Enlightening..... Cha- cha-cha....

  • .. Have a kata guy compete a contest guy in the ring, yes the kata guy might not have an advantage. But if a contest guy picks a fight with a kata guy on the street, you'd be sure the kata guy will be able to easily defeat the contest fighter.

However. Any person graded 1st dan in any karatesystem do know the power of the skills they have and the damage they can apply to another human being. Therefore:

Do not strike others, do not be struck by others, the principle is peace without incident.

  • @RicRagsLive He is speaking in badly translated Okinawan Japanese, I am fully aware of what he said and what he meant. It is obvious that he is referring to contest and not training, who would suggest that you hit people with full contact eye strikes during training? I am not going to continue this exchange with you as I can't bring myself to enter into a battle of wits with someone who is so obviously unarmed.

  • @darrenlad Nope your wrong. watch the show again and use your ears.

  • @RicRagsLive You are simply wrong on both counts, he is (obviously) referring to pulling blows in contest NOT to pulling blows in training, and anyone with half a brain can see that. Also it does not follow that a competition fighter (especially one who trains in points fighting) automatically beats someone who trains hard in kata, the kata are filled with techniques you banned in contests. Your comments simply prove that you don't really know a lot about the martial arts.

  • @darrenlad Sorry but he said that every blow has to be done at full speed and power, then 2 minutes later he is pulling his blows. Has nothing to do with what I believe. I think the guy is amazing. But I recognize when someones ideal done not align with their practice. It's impossible to always have your blows be 100% And sport does help a person become better at fighting. have someone who only does Katas fight a person who competes in sport and watch the kata person get destroyed.

  • @RicRagsLive So you think he shouldn't pull an eye strike for training purposes or he is some kind of hypocrite? What idiocy. His criticism of sport karate is that it doesn't use a full range of technique and promotes 'winners' within unrealistic sets of rules, often narrowing the range of karate learned around the world. I have trained under Higaonna Shihan and found him far from foolish. I cannot say the same for your post.
