The U.S. Coast Guard and the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary respond to a report of a vessel abandoned and adrift miles off the coast of Sandy Hook, New Jersey on Saturday September 20, 2008. The Coast Guard 25' boat puts 2 crew aboard the abandoned vessel to look for clues as to the whereabouts of the owner/operator. This was done safely and professionally under difficult sea conditions, (8 to 10 foot seas). They were supported by the Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel Lady B, a former Coast Guard 82' Cutter, (the Point Brown). The story has a happy ending, the owner had made it to shore and was previously hospitalized, but survived! The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer unpaid component of the US Coast Guard, America's Volunteer Lifesavers. Join Us! CGAUX.org We remain Semper Paratus!
