  • yeah another dimension, time travel and Invicible man

  • a little deeper.just maybe in the far far far future we might be the ones making bodys just like our own, or even better,Waybetter! " then in the next' jump of evolution' find the soul particle or unique individual person identifiable .then finaly jump start everything into exzistance once and for all.after we know how to create every single thing possible.we will eventualy know if we keep our selves in exzistance or not one dayat least till we cant do know more. deep thinkers only .lol.

  • Save the atom!

  • I think it's funny that the scientists are inferring that we lay people are insane just because we want a risk assessment from an unbiased source before handing our planet over to these megalomaniacs.

  • "There are better, less invasive ways ... most of which are all-natural. But pharma can't make money that way"

Actually that's not true. Big pharma are the main producers of so-called natural and alternative medicine. They're a business and they know there's a big market for that stuff.

With the added bonus that alternative medicine doesn't have to go through all that expensive scientific testing. It's ironic that they're selling this stuff so well on the idea that they wouldn't sell it.

  • "How will this benefit humanity?"

The thing about basic research into the frontiers of knowledge is that we don't know what lies on the other side. If we knew, we wouldn't need to do the research.

When the electron was discovered, no-one thought it would ever be useful, and now it's an essential part of the foundation of modern society.

It's also a tiny proportion of our spending on things like the entertainment. But no-one seems to ask if the big-budget movies will benefit humanity.

  • You're a romantic because you only see the comfortable side of the pre-industrial era.

Sitting there in your warm home, with an abundance of food and material comforts, medical care that gives you more than the maybe 35 years you're designed for, while cursing science over the internet is rather amusing.

And don't assume that i chase those, and haven't invested in the mind instead. I'm only pointing out that history tells a different, unromantic story and there's much to appreciate in science

  • What is cheaper: growing my own food or buying it from a grocery store? The idea that I need a computer or GPS to grow food is laughable. You say I'm a romantic. I say I'm the practical one, while you appear to have been roboticized by culture. Go ahead and lay down your life at the altar of science. Keep splitting atoms, then quarks, then strings and just keep on going!! Try to find that smallest particle on into eternity. I'll be laughing and eating a peach from my backyard.

  • Wrong, without Computers and GPS and you couldn't get food anywhere near as cheap. Both are used on large scale farming operations. No offense, but I think you have a rather romantic idea about resources and how we arrived at our material wealth.

  • Remember what they said about the 'personal' computer?

Humans are resourcefull, the LHC will at least raise the level of conciousness a littlebit further up. And thats when todays miracles are tomorrows reality. Anybody ever wondered why so much money is pumped in that project and more important; who? I would like that know that, probably people who see benefits.
