Oz Noy Trio feat: Vinnie Colaiuta/Jimmy Johnson-Live At Catalina Bar & Grill 2006 Audio Only

This is an AUDIO ONLY recording of Oz Noy and his trio featuring Vinnie Colaiuta(D) & Jimmy Johnson(B) This was recorded live at Catalina Bar & Grill in LA 10/25/06 performing Oz's "Just Groove Me" from his 1st record "Oz Live"... To my knowledge this is the only show that this particular line up has ever played together. They played two absolutely amazing sets consisting of material from all three of Oz's cd's. This particular cut was from the first set. There's a great moment in the song at 3:11 where Vinnie drops a stick and from 3:11 to 3:19 he's trying to get another stick out of a brand new pack where he ends up with the pack in his mouth, taking the stick out of the pack with one hand and through all this continuing to play with his other hand and not missing a beat. The audio quality is great although suffers slightly from me having to compress the file for Youtube but still sounds really good..It's pretty much a stage mix recorded right at the front of the stage. I'll most likely post more clips from this show if anyone is interested.. The still photos and short video clip are from this show which were taken by a friend. Anyway ENJOY!!!!

The bass player IS Jimmy Jonson, the long time bass player of Allan Holdsworth.

He use Alembic bass for year and years. In fact he is the first bassist to play a 5 string bass with low B, it was also an Alembic bass

@gordonS2 he had Alembic build the first one in the late 70's and had GHS make the strings. He is the father of this instrument as is Anthony Jackson of the six string contra bass guitar
