Adams Polishes: Washing the Wheels (DVD Volume 5)

In this video Adam shows the proper techniques for washing the wheels, rims, and wheel well.

While they're dry and cool to touch very important to do your wheels only when they are cool to the touch. You spray the all purpose cleaner on the tires. in the wheel wells, and lastly on the wheels. Thats because you want the all purpose cleaner to work on the tires and on the wheel wells as much as possible, but you don't really need it to sit on the wheels very long. If you've got visible calipers like the Ferrari does make sure you give those an extra little blast. And then for me to clean them, first I'm gonna use the Fender Brush. Ok, This brush here is gonna be for hitting the wheel well and the tires. The brush is a little bit more aggressive and you want to get all the junk out of the tires, especially if you've used like a really typical tire dressing thats really high gloss. You're gonna have a lot of shine on the tire which then collects of course a lot of dirt. You're gonna need a little bit more bristle to get those out. Now doing the actual wheels I'm gonna go ahead and use the Boar's Hair Brush. Now I've already wet my brush you want to make sure to get it nice and damp then start getting your lug nuts,and the valve stem. The nice thing about the Boar's hairs brush it wont scratch a thing and the bristles are so soft they get into every nook and cranny in the wheel. Make sure also if you have exposed calipers you spend extra attention to those.

some people like a £5 wash and some like more then a cheap wash that leaves damage. i know many who think of a car that does the a to b job for me it has to look presentable and clean and thats what i give customers. i do a in and out wash for £10 and it looks like showroom without scratching. i get told by the local guys its £40 i say sod off as i know i will do a better job and won't use greasy products.
