  • Wow, I wouldn't have expected such a cool fully-fledged consumer product from you. Also, I'm surprised that it seems completely closed source. That wouldn't jive with your mentality of education and sharing.

  • @mondalaci thanks, the software side and protocol is open, and we'll open the hardware after a few rounds of manufacturing, maybe sooner. With the open protocol, people can do anything they want with it, although this is definitely targeted as a product more than a tutorial kit, and is being sold through a separate website because of that.

  • @CuriousInventor Coincidentally, a friend of mine and I are also developing two projects that are not kits but rather fully-fledged consumer products for niche markets. We're gonna open them for sure but I'm somewhat concerned about the negative business impact that openness may have. I was thinking about not publishing anything until we actually start manufacturing our hardware and our brand builds up to some degree. Does you mentality reflects the same thinking pattern by any chance?

  • @mondalaci Exactly. I think there are a lot of good arguments for going open even from the very beginning, but it's very scary when you're small. This is just my opinion, but it seems that a lot of medium to bigger companies that release open projects aren't actually risking much, since they can out-manufacture anyone that simply wants to copy. I've heard that even arduino hardware wasn't open from the beginning, but I could be wrong about that.

  • Bummer, sold out already. Does this work with an unpowered usb hub? I mean multiples would be awesome!

  • @cdeization It's not sold out, just being sold as a pre-order only for the first couple runs. We expect to ship in 2-3 weeks or sooner for this batch.

  • @cdeization Correction, the stock status on the website was incorrect, but it's now fixed. thanks!

  • cool deal

  • I have no legitimate use for this, but I still WANT ONE.

  • Great invetion dude... Can we expect a multi channel version of ur product? I mean the same thing but like 7 more faders. Can I use several of these in one PC? Have you tried? (dont wanna ran out of USB ports tho') I think this is way more cooler than the Korg nanoKontrol. Can I use it as a midi controller on windows too? I'm running Sonar 3.1.
