@santinizer I drive a Barber surfrake in Jersey Channel Islands which we use to pick up mainly seaweed (as we have some of the biggest rise and fall of tides in the world), larger objects, bottles & paper etc, also just to fluff up the sand for the tourists. Two summer seasons of 5 months each and the machine needs a total rebuild because of excessive wear in bearings and belts. I like the look of this machine on the video, would it pick up seaweed alright?
I guess you are talking about the new perforated belt!? This is nice to have but in my opinion it does not change anything on the capability of collecting small things. The intention behind that is to avoid collecting a lot of sand which actually belongs to the beach. I never saw a tractor with such a device, but it would be a good idea in regard of the environmental sensitive area the machines are working in. Additionally, I've heard that BeachTech machines are available with bio hyd. oil.
Maybe because of that they recently added a new tool for small debris the "S-Belt" Sanitizing Conveyor (special for cigarettes and small stuff).
I am doing a research for the Mexican Gov is trying to smooth the effects of Global recession, they want to buy for every beach so more jobs are created.
Another thing I was thinking; does the tractor have (or need) a plastic or something under the body to collect oil or grease spills avoiding them to fall into the sand???
As far as I know Barber is a rake only, which means that it is not capable to collect small stuff, also the working depth is very limited not speaking about the maintenance nighhtmare of 700 somewhat tines....
