Sleeping Lion Martial Arts Flagstaff. Training in Aiki Hapkido utilizing the best of Ving Tsun Kung Fu. I hope this video helps you learn our Muk Yang Jong (or Muk Jang)Kata.
The Muk is great for conditioning and speed. Students can well exceed blocking/ striking 20 times in a second. It help improve flow as well.

  • Not just relaxation but during the contact of the punch many people dont follow through. Many people even when they throw a relax punch they dont follow through with it rather they pull it back once they touch. (Or I seen people push the bag with their fist)

Not to mention people tense up their fist during a punch which is equivalent of a tense muscle. A lot more theory than just physics.

  • All of that is pretty simple once trained into the body. Execution of a technique becomes a refined movement/reaction rather than layers of detailed thought.

Transcend technique, your every move should be like like a technique.

But your observations are all correct and it takes time to apply. Best Wishes

  • That is Wu Shu, Wing Chun style. Not Hapkido.

  • Sleeping Lion is the name of the school.

Aiki Hapkido is the name of the system we practice.

We practice Hapkido, Ving Tsun, and other styles.

As far as this form... l created it.

So now what would all the youtube know it alls call it... Wilson Wu Shu?

At the end of the day it is a man beating a wooden man. Enjoy!

  • mass X velocity = power.

    Proper posture transfers power. (mass)

    relaxation is speed. (velocity)

    physics.

  • Speed doesn't necessarily means power. There is also proper relaxation of muscles and a lot more than just speed. I mean sure you can hit the thing fast but at the end of day your power doesn't just come from speed itself well maybe a part of it but not all.

  • Neat

  • muk jong is cool

  • Liked seeing it fast the end

  • Cool

You dont see alot of Hapkidoists also doing Ving Tsun.

It must bee neat to spar at your school!
