maverick... that was only an image. He was in a very rational way to push the limits of music and of sound as far as he could, in total freedom, i.e. free to use any material he liked and not bound by any convention. He could move back and forth in as many musical worlds as possible, and transform them continuously. "Uncle Meat" is a masterpiece of compositional freedom and exploration of sounds and rythms

Essra Moahwk was the first female member of Zappa's band & he named her Uncle Meat. She of course later went on to release the much praised PRIMORDIAL LOVERS on Reprise & write Cyndi Lauper's CHANGE OF HEART, Tina Turner's SRONGER THAN THE WIND. E ssra also sang on some of the Schoolhouse Rock songs in the 70s as well.

I love this whole album. Zappa is one of the great american maverick originals up there with Charles Ives, Carl Ruggles and Harry Partch!
There is no universe but that which Frank descibes.
